On April 21st the University System of Georgia hosted its first Web Day in Macon, GA on the campus of Middle Georgia State University. This conference was started to bring together the University System of Georgia (USG) and Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) web professionals, content writers, and managers interested in meeting colleagues from around the state. Web professionals had the opportunity  to explore new technologies and methodologies that are impacting web design and management. This was my first conference since I moved to Georgia and started working for USG so I found it refreshing to get to meet Web Professionals from institutions across the state. After moving I noticed that the institutions here use some different technologies such as content management system and frameworks. Our group is currently using CodeIgniter as a PHP framework and Expression Engine as the CMS. In the future, our group will be moving the open source platform Drupal so this was definitely a greatstarting point by connecting with others who use the platform within the system. Overall, I had a good time exploring Macon, GA and look forward to the next conferences on the schedule this year. download (1)
